NCAA to change final score, statistics of Georgia Tech-Georgia game

--ATHENS, GA-- After reviewing a very controversial play in the rivalry known as Clean Old-Fashioned hate, the NCAA has decided to change the final score of the game. A score of 30-24 will be changed to 30-17. Georgia Tech went into Athens and through a miraculous finish, won in overtime, off a DJ White interception. Despite the W and great finish for the Yellow Jackets, Tech coach Paul Johnson expressed his anger for a third quarter call. That was Justin Thomas' QB sneak with 8:42 left, which turned into a Damian Swann TD one hundred yards the other way. Thomas took the snap and appeared to have pushed his way into the east end zone, however no ref blew his whistle when the ball crossed the plane. Instead, refs let play continue for a near 4 seconds while Georgia players tugged viciously at the ball. Out of the scrum came Georgia DB Damian Swann, who ran the entire distance for a UGA touchdown. After multiple reviews by the NCAA, ACC, and the College Football Officials Association (CFOA), the score will be reversed and will give Thomas the touchdown and take it out of all Damian Swann's stats/accolades. This decision was made due to the fact that it was a blatantly wrong call, and that at this point has no affect on the outcome of the game, since Georgia Tech won anyways. Also, the NCAA explains that had the Justin Thomas touchdown been correctly rewarded, the score would've been 13-7 in Georgia Tech's favor (no xp) at that point, as opposed to 14-7 in Georgia's favor. Due to the fact that Georgia Tech punted on their next possession and UGA came up empty on points on their ensuing possession (due to an Adam Gotsis' blocked field goal of Marshall Morgan), those two possessions are basically voided, and in no way is the decision to change the final score take away from other parts in the game. The final score that will now be recorded is Georgia Tech: 30, Georgia: 17. Georgia Tech's score of 30 is given, as opposed to 31, because the NCAA cannot reward an extra point that was not made/attempted, so for the revised TD, there will be no extra point conversion associated. Stats from overtime have been voided, and the game will go down as having not had an overtime period. Just to be clear, this is only happening because Tech won the game. In no way would the NCAA make a decision after a game that would affect the outcome (winner/loser) of that game. This is not the first time in NCAA football history that this has been done. In 2011, the Pac 12 changed the USC-Utah final score from 17-14 to 23-17, after a blocked FG/touchdown, originally ruled a dead play, was counted as a score after the game had ended.
